A giveaway from a GREAT blog

In the above title, please hear the Tony the Tiger Frosted Flakes kind of "GRRRREAT!"

Have you ever found a blog that just feels like home? Every post you think, "Amen to that!" or "Gee whiz, what a great idea!" or "Why didn't I think of that because that is an amazing idea?" You feel like if you ever met this author, you would be great friends. You can't help but tell everyone you know about this blog.

For me, this blog is twelve crafts till christmas.

I love everything that Elizabeth, the brains behind the twelve crafts, does. I love the basis of her blog (hand-crafting all the gifts for Christmas 2010, one project per month). I love her writing style and her honesty--read her note on blogging manners in the left sidebar for an example. I love her true confessions and her newest weekly feature, Monday's Buttons, which I sincerely wish I had thought of first because it's not only great, but it's unique. This list could continue, but I'll stop there. The most accurate way to describe our relationship is probably idol worship, but since that's creepy (and also a sin), we'll call us blog-friends instead. Because, yes, she replies to comments. The perfection never ends.

Anyway... the point is, go take a look at twelve crafts till christmas. To add to the regular goodness, she's hosting a $30 CSN giftcard giveaway.

I'm over at Housewife Eclectic today with a few apps that can help you find your MIA device. Come on over and check 'em out!

A call for help and inspiration

The Mr has been out of school for a week and we've been having so much fun that the time just flew and now I sit here on Saturday night having given you (nearly) nothing new this week (unless you stopped by my Wednesday post at Housewife Eclectic, in which case, thanks!). I hope you are all having equally fun (and busy) summers so far.

Aside from having so much fun, part of this nothing-newness is borne from a bit of a crafting block. I have sworn (both to myself and the Mr) that I will finish my existing projects and use the crafting materials I have been saving (to recycle) before I will begin new projects. So... I need your help. What can I do with these things?
  • Baby food jars. Lots. And lots. Our recycling program here won't accept glass, so I feel the need to "recycle" it myself. :)
  • Yogurt and sour cream plastic containers. Some with lids, some without.
  • An oatmeal canister.
  • Various sized glass jars (salsa, pickles, etc). See above note about recycling program.
  • Cereal boxes.
  • Phone books. Three of them...
So, I'm well on my way to becoming the crazy hoarder lady who is killed by a stack of falling newspapers from 1976 with only her cats to mourn her death (because my husband will probably disown me if I save any more "materials" without very specific projects in mind). Please help me save myself from this fate.

Photo apps @ Housewife Eclectic

I'm over at Housewife Eclectic again today (yes, it's already Wednesday!). Come check out two fun apps to create photo mosaics from pictures and text, like this
